Why We Exist
In 2017, there was no dedicated public or private specialist service in the Hunter region for the assessment and treatment of DVT and pulmonary embolism. Patients were waiting too long to see a haematologist, or not seeing one at all.
We set up Clot Clinic to fix that. Through our partnership with Hunter Blood Group, we built a dedicated service where patients with blood clot conditions can see a specialist haematologist — typically within 4-6 weeks, sooner if urgent.
Today, our team of 11 haematologists provides ongoing care for DVT, pulmonary embolism, and inherited clotting disorders, both in-person in Newcastle West and via video telehealth.

What to Expect
4-6 Week Wait Time
Most patients are seen within 4-6 weeks of referral. Urgent cases are prioritised and seen sooner.
Follow-Ups Bulk Billed
Initial consultations have a gap payment of up to $90. All follow-up appointments are bulk billed.
In-Person or Telehealth
Initial consultations at our Newcastle West rooms. Follow-ups available via secure video call — no need to come in for every visit.
We Coordinate with Your GP
Your referring doctor receives updates on your treatment plan and progress, so your care stays joined up.
